The Simpsons Arcade iPhone app, brings back memories.

The Simpsons Arcade!

The new iPhone app released by EA is fun just like the good old times! The Simpsons Arcade app is exactly what it says, its just like the old arcade game where you move left and right to beat down your enemies and eat doughnuts to get your health back. The controls are extremely responsive and work very well for a game that requires you to move with a joystick controller with your left thumb and your right thumb is used to jump and/or attack. The graphics and gameplay are exactly like the old arcade game which is extremely fun! For anyone looking to have some fun in an old arcade style this game has it all and will keep you occupied for a while.

Overall one of the better adaptations of an old game into the iPhone game genre.

Bejeweled 2! iPhone edition

Bejeweled 2

Well most of us know of the Bejeweled games being for the computer, well it is also in the iPhone/iPod Touch! I recently started to play the edition on my phone and I have to say that once again it’s another great computer-to-phone game that is well done and fun to kill some time. Bejeweled is a puzzle game where you have to swap jewels from one place to another to make lines of at least three to destroy those three. The goal of the game is to achieve the set goal for each level. That is the basics of the game, but of course like most games there are various game modes and styles you can play that add subtle differences. The Bejeweled games are great puzzle style games in general to kill some time or just have some plain fun with.

Overall the iPhone version is great and I would recommend getting it.

Another great computer-to-phone game

Ghost Squad, at home arcade for the Wii!

Ghost Squad

Well as many know the Wii is a very good system for shooter games that are in the arcade style because of the wiimote. Ghost Squad is a good example of one of those. I bought Ghost Squad a while ago and I have to say that it gets its use when my friends or family come over and want to have some fun for a little while. The game isn’t long and has the same crappy arcade shooter story, but it’s a fun game to play. The game is pretty short because you have three different levels, but you can repeat them over and over to make them more difficult. You can also get better weapons and change your outfit to be some pretty ridiculous things like having a crazy hat on or really weird clothing on. Overall a short game, but a fun one.

I would suggest getting this game for someone who has a Wii and misses playing those arcade shooter games. If you do happen to pick this up or any other arcade shooter I would also suggest getting a “gun” accessory to put your wiimote in because it makes the game experience all that much better.

Ghost Squad brings back those childhood arcade memories

DinoSmash, online multiplayer game for the iPhone!

DinoSmash

DinoSmash is a game that I started to play a little while ago and had some fun getting into. The game is very much like Super Smash Bros. but for your phone! Recently it has been updated and now you can customize your dino and select from 24 different tribes. DinoSmash is in third person with some pretty good controls that are easy to use so you can navigate and jump simply to fight your enemies. The best part of DinoSmash is the online mode where you can face off against other players around the world and play either a Capture the Flag mode or a Team Deathmatch. This is the first game for the iPhone/iPod touch that I have played that you can play online against other people. DinoSmash has an optimized graphics engine that runs at 30-40 fps (frames per second). You can grab different weapons and devastate your enemies with various different attacks. An overall well put together game that can give you some fun when you’re bored.

If you are looking for a new game for your iPhone or iPod Touch, then this is the one.

You will have lots of fun playing against others around the world!

Prince of Persia, another video game movie?

Prince of PersiaPrince of Persia

As a fan of Prince of Persia this one interests me. Prince of Persia originates from a video game that has had many different titles that have been featured on the Playstation 2/3, Xbox and Xbox 360, and in earlier versions on the Gamecube. The movie will be based on the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time game and will hit theaters nationwide on May 28th, 2010. As we all know video game movies are being made in a mass amount now and many of them have failed to be a good movie. I guess we’ll find out if the director Mike Newel (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) can pull off a good video game adaptation to the big screen. The movie is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean, CSI), so hopefully the two can pull off something that will finally succeed.

The movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina, and Toby Kebbell.

I look forward to seeing more information about this, and seeing it in theaters.

Peggle, iPhone edition!

Peggle

Well I love Peggle on the PC in itself, but when I heard that this was coming out for my iPhone I had to have it! The iPhone version is one of those games for the iPhone/iPod Touch that is really well put together and the game play is identical to the original! Peggle is a game where you have a “shooter” piece in the center at the top and your goal is to take out as many orange “peggles” as you can before you run out of balls to shoot because if you don’t get all of the orange ones then you fail and you have to start over. This isn’t the only game mode, but it is the main one. The games point system revolves around getting combo’s and you have the option to select a character who has a different ability from all of the others. The different abilities are used when you shoot a green peggle which gives you your special ability power up and you get to use it for the next few hits depending on how your next shots go. That’s the game in a nutshell, but there are many different modes and many other things that make it really fun. Just wait until you play it and you beat one round and you hear the end music, you will feel epic. The game is a really fun game to play that you can play for hours without getting bored. The only downside is that yes like almost every other game for the iPhone this is a paid game, on the upside the App Store always has sales on so if you don’t want to spend too much then, I’m sure that it will go on sale soon enough, or you have a “jailbroken” iPhone so you don’t need to worry. I will warn you and say that this game can be fairly addicting.

If you don’t have an iPhone or iPod Touch then try the PC version.

No matter which edition you get you will have fun!

Hero of Sparta, Graphics and Game Play to Impress

Hero of Sparta

Hero of Sparta is an iPhone app worth getting whether you have a “authentic” iPhone or a “jailbroken” iPhone. Hero of Sparta is a game for the iPhone/Ipod Touch which has very impressive graphics. Sometimes the downfall of an app is the controls and the lack of playability. This game is an exception to that because the controls are some of the best I have used so far. In Hero of Sparta you are a hero who fights his way through all of the monsters and bosses. The combo/attacking system is unique and isn’t a “boring” set of the same old combo’s over and over, it actually makes it fun to play throughout the whole time. The game is put together well and impressed me a lot for a game that I can play on my iPhone any time.

Another great release by Gameloft.

This game is well worth getting, play until your hearts content.

Guild Wars Trilogy, Fun and Different

Guild Wars

Recently I picked up the Guild Wars Trilogy because to be honest I am getting very bored with World of Warcraft. I use to play Guild Wars when it first came out and I had a lot of fun, but I really forgot what it was like. The trilogy comes with the original Guild Wars and two expansions: Guild Wars Factions, and Guild Wars Nightfall. Guild Wars has it similarities to most MMO’s, but it also has some major differences. I really like the way guild wars uses great use of each class and how you can have your main class and a side class and get abundant set of skills. After playing WoW for so long, it is pretty hard to get use to not being able to jump, but at least you can still move with the WASD keys or click to move. I recommend Guild Wars to anyone who doesn’t want to pay a monthly fee and is looking for a game with good graphics and fun game play. One thing that I really like about Guild Wars is the spells, the detail and casting of a spell is just amazing. As I played it more I started to remember why I like this game so much and why it’s so much fun. One of the best things about Guild Wars is that you can get henchmen to help you out, so if your friends aren’t on then you can just go out into the world and fight monsters with bots which actually are pretty smart. One of the downfalls I find in Guild Wars is the fact that once you go into the world to fight monsters you no longer see anyone, but the people in your party, so you won’t see the same guy you just saw in town once you leave the city. Guild Wars has some of the best graphics for a game that is 4 years old now and they still impress every time I see them.

Guild Wars is a great game.

Try it out if you’re looking for something new.

Mad World, goriest Wii game yet? I think so.

Mad World!

Playing all those super mario games are great fun and all, but when you have a Wii you feel as if you need something not so child like all the time, you feel like you need something gory? Well Mad World is definitely the answer to those of you who are looking for a game that is fun and extremely gory and just a rant in itself. Picking up Mad World a couple of weeks ago was one of the greatest choices I have made thus far for theWii. The game is based on becoming a #1 Ranked killer basically and it is done in a black and white style cartoon which has really cool effects because the only color is red and that’s for blood. The ways that you can take someone out are really limitless, you can go from throwing someone into a train to something I don’t want to explain in words it’s so gory. This game is definitely not for children and I only advise playing it if you like fighting games with lots of blood. Each level you will go through your ordinaryJoe’s and then face a boss at the end and that’s where the game gets really interesting because each boss is different and has different abilities and skills that make it more difficult or easy than the last boss you faced. If you are into fast paced fighting games with a cool style this is the game for you because it has all of that and tons of gore/ways to take out someone.

StoneLoops! just a bit too addicting.

Stone Loops!

So far I have played my fair share of iPhone games from the app store and I have to say that this one is the most addicting that I have played so far. This a game where you have a cannon to shoot stones (or should I say pebbles) into matching stones which are on a path heading toward “doom” which eats your pride if it gets to it. The point of the game is to keep matching the stones until all of the path is gone, as the game goes on you will encounter more and more paths and more difficult paths. The game is appealing to all audiences and is easy to use, a good use of graphics and it has never crashed on me.
