Although the movie has nothing to do with karate I was still very impressed. The performances of Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan were great and the chemistry they had worked well. I remember walking into the movie not expecting much because of the original 1984 edition which is a classic, but this new update had a great story and meaning. If you were thinking about seeing this and were weary you don’t have to be because movie was good on many levels. This movie is one of those movies we can all take something from and grow from it.
A funny movie that impressed me more than I thought it might. The story was simple, but Kick-Ass had a good theme and meaning behind it. I enjoyed watching it, especially the little girl “Hit Girl” kick some serious ass. Nicolas Cage also did a great job of acting, it was so awkward it was funny. I would suggest watching this movie when it hits DVD because of its originality and different take on the super-hero genre.
The Invention of Lying is a unique movie about a world where no one tells a lie, only the truth comes out of everyone’s mouth until one day a man tells the first lie in the history of mankind. After he discovers he can tell lies, a whole new world opens up to him of money and trouble. Torn between taking advantage of others and doing the right thing he is left with a dilemma. The movie overall was not amazing, but a good take on something new and a good watch if you want to watch something of the ordinary.
I recently watched Surrogates with Bruce Willis and I was impressed with the animation and how visually pleasing the surrogates were, but the story has been done a bit too many times with the same kind of idea. The movie ended up just being an action flick instead of having a good script. Surrogates had the right motive and idea it just fell short like many others in following through with a good story.
The Sherlock Holmes movie is directed by Guy Ritchie and features big actors such as Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes, Jude Law as Watson, and Rachel McAdams as Adler. What really made this movie entertaining throughout was the strong performances of the actors and the interesting take on the original detective. Robert Downey Jr. has been putting out solid performances in his last few movies and I hope that remains the same.
As for the movies story it was entertaining and quite funny at times. The movie sends Holmes and Watson on an adventure that puts there detective skills and wit to the challenge. Holmes is put to the test in bringing down his new nemesis, by using his famous intellect and fighting skills to unravel a devious plot that may destroy everything as he knows it.
An overall well-rounded movie that keeps you entertained and happy throughout.
District 13: Ultimatum is the sequel to the original District 13 starring Leito (Famous Parkour legend David Belle) and Damien Tomasso (Cyril Raffaelli). The movie is about an outcast district, which is a racially driven ghetto populated by violent drug dealing gangs and war lords. Despite government promises to maintain order, the state of the district has gone into chaos, and a group of corrupt cops and elected officials are conspiring to cause civil unrest in District 13, looking for an excuse to raze the area and cash in on its redevelopment. Now Damian and Leito must join forces again, and use their mastery of martial arts and their unique physical skills to bring peace to the neighborhood by any means necessary. The adrenaline pumped movie packs lots of action and high flying scenes with lots of bone crunching fights. The movie is a nonstop action thrill ride that will entertain you throughout the whole movie.
A very good movie to watch if you are into action, but I would recommend watching the French version (Banlieue 13 Ultimatumm) because from what I saw the English version was not so good in the dubbing of it.
Avatar is the biggest budget movie in the history of all movie making. The movie had a budget of $300-$500 million, but apparently it paid off because the movie is soaring through the box office at an extremely fast rate! Avatar has already made over 1$ billion dollars and counting in 17 days of it being out. Avatar is the story of an ex-Marine who finds himself put into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people. He soon finds out he has to make the hardest decision of his life in the fight between the two worlds.
Overall a great movie that is filled with everything that you look for in a movie. This movie is a must see on the big Screen, not only is the 3D amazing, the special effects will blow your mind away at how impressive they are and the attention to detail of everything.
